WOODMONT

I played Tuesday with a 2:50 tee time.
The range wasn't crowded, though it was hard to find a divot free place to hit irons from between the ropes.
However, the range was set up well, distances to target greens accurate, water and brushes in the buckets.
The chipping/putting facility is in fantastic shape as well.
When I got to the tee to check in with the starter I found that 3 separate groups had been scheduled for that tee time.
A threesome, a two-some and two singles. The starter sent the two-some off alone,
then paired me with the other single and sent us off separately, then the threesome behind us - so it was a bit congested at the start.
The fairways were in fantastic condition - some of the very best in the area right now and the layout is challenging without being overly penalizing.
The only downside was they'd just put sand/seed out on the greens that day and hadn't posted the news, so the greens were slow and unpredictable.
On a 130 approach on #7 I hit a low wedge in with backspin...the ball plugged through the surface of the green.
Knowing the fantastic crew they have at this course they'll have the greens back in shape in no time -
quicker if everyone would take the time to repair a ball mark or two on each green.
Altogether, it was a great round. The low price compensates for the challenges they are now facing and in the end its a really great track.

Played on 7/11. Everything got off to a great start with the Pro Shop staff who were very nice.
The range is very well kept with plenty of grass and nice targets.
They pay attention to the small things like making sure the buckets have water in them to clean your clubs after practicing.
It got better when the starter came to the practice to check everyone's tee time.
I was offered the opportunity to get out earlier than my scheduled tee time if I was ready.
I took him up on the offer and got to play with a couple great guys.
The first hole gets you off to a nice start. It is a pretty straight-forward par-5. A nice drive will give you a chance to go at the green in two.
Missing the green long or right is a tough up and down. My second shot was long and left but I was able to get up and down.
The second and third holes are pretty tame. The long par-4, 4th demands two good shots.
I found the front side to be a bit easier than the back. The backside has 3 par-5s which is kind of unique.
There is a very short par-3 on the backside that plays downhill to a easy PW or a good SW.
Don't let the yardage fool you. A poor shot can find serious trouble depending on the pin placement.
The overall course condition was very good. The fairways provided very good lies.
The greens looked a bit beat-up, but I found that they putted true and the speed was good.
The greens would look much better if players took the 5 seconds to repair their ball-mark.
The landing areas off the tees are very generous with maybe one exception on the back, but that hole is a short par-4 so it really isn't much of an issue.
The design is such that you can get away with some SLIGHTLY errant tee shots with mounds funneling the ball back toward the fairway on quite a few holes.
This is a very nice course. If you haven't played it, you should. I will definitely be back.

Got the unlimited range balls and $26 per round after 4pm deal for a month. (nice deal) Played 7/11 and the course was fantastic
. Wide variety of hole designs. I've just started so I was able to appreciate the wide fairways.
Greens seemed fast, but that might be because I'm terrible. Holes were challenging without being extremely difficult.
Great course and will use my unlimited range balls all the time this month.

A beautiful design. Their signature hole is gorgeous, but a widow maker!
Always in great condition, great service, and a thrill to play. Highly recommended.

Great layout (especially the back 9) and in good condition.
The ball marks need to be fixed more often but I think that's just traffic from the popularity of the course.
Good value . Highly recommend playing here often.

Played for the first time on Sunday, July 5.
What a beautiful course, from the clubhouse, to the layout to the greens. Top notch all the way around.
Weather was not great, so I don't know if finishing in 4 hours is unusually fast,
although one of the people I played with told me that it moves very well on weekends.
I got a rate of $46, which is a great value for this very nice course.
Can't wait to play it again.

I played Woodmont for the first time on 6/30.
I really enjoyed the experience, and I will be back for sure, especially if I can play it again for $35.
I made a single reservation, and played with 3 good guys . My first impression of the course is that the layout is a good one, and the course is very playable.
It really isn't that hard to stay away from most trouble. The fairways are very wide, and the fair way grass was perfect - good lies.
The rough wasn't really very penalizing, which was good for me. I think the challenge is in the undulating greens.
They rolled nice, but unless you were below the hole, you could expect a lot of break.
The superintendent's staff was the friendliest I've ever come across on a golf course.
They drove by several times to say hello and thank us for coming out.
Only 25 minutes from Kennesaw. Great experience!

The 1st and 9th holes have a lot of range balls in the fairway and rough
because the range is right next to the holes. So follow your ball!

Two buddies and myself played this course two days ago because of the great deal we got.
We try to play a new course every week but after playing here it will be hard to want to try another!
Course was in great shape from the the fairways to the greens. Plays great from the tips with good distance.
The only problem was they charge extra for a course guide and we didn't realize this until we got on the tee box.
That made it tough on some holes when the landing area was out of sight.
All in all the best course we have played in the Atlanta North area.
Would recommend to anyone and will be looking for more deals to play again!

Got a great deal on this site and enjoyed it.
It was definitely one of the more challenging courses I've played but I found it to be a great experience.
 Only complaint were the greens.
They were VERY fast and there was no room for error, but I can't complain for that price!
 Excellent Course!

Just finished 18. The course was in great shape. Grass in the fairways to hit from.
The greens were fast and true, just like I like them. I will definitely be back for more.

Played Woodmont on 6/20/09 and got a good deal for $40.
I'm glad I got a deal on the golf because the range balls were pretty pricey.
The course was in great shape, thick fairways and rough.
The greens were okay although there were quite a few unrepaired ball marks.
I like the layout of this course. There are some very challenging holes that will test you.
Keep it in the fairway and you'll be rewarded. Great course for the money!

Woodmont is my new favorite among the Affiniti courses. I don't think Reunion holds a candle to Woodmont.
Reunion's real estate is built much to close to the fairways after playing Woodmont.
All designers should study Woodmont on the real estate to golf course ratios.
I'm surprised no one noted how much of a cutter/fader's course Woodmont is.
I had no problems but would have preferred a little more variety in terms of shot shaping off the tee.
I like to draw the ball for extra distance and you'll have to aim at a lot of hazards to do this at Woodmont.
The layout was an excellent blend of traditional and modern golf design. RTJ definitely shows influence from his father.
Having played Peachtree GC, I can appreciate the straight forward large sloping greens with good strategic bunkering.
No gimmicks here. Greens really are fast! People really fix their ball marks here!
The layout promotes smart and conservative play.
Most single digit handicappers can maintain 70's golf by making obvious club decisions on par 4's and 5s.
It's hard to judge the front bunker depth (front to back) on Hole 10 and ended up in that one unnecessarily.
Service is excellent and non-intrusive. The marshal is a former pilot, I believe, not some blue collar geezer looking for free golf.
 Cart girls came around frequently.
No one should complain about the drive. If you follow the simple 400 and local road directions, the mileage is only 33 miles, Buckhead to Canton.
That's the same as Buckhead to Acworth. Buckhead to Reunion is 45! The local roads also make for excellent driving conditions.
If you drive an M3 or something comparable, take LOCAL!
When you consider the cost is similar to boring River Pines or the real estate burdened Trophy Club of Atlanta,
Woodmont is a much better value for the $50-70 golf course.
If you pay less than $50, you owe yourself several drinks at your favorite 19th hole.

I played Woodmont on 6/14/09 for a fee of $47. The course was in excellent shape.
The greens were firm and fast with some divot damage, but nothing major.
The fairways and tee boxes were thick and full.
We started at 1:45pm on Sunday and it took only 4 hours 15 minutes to complete the round...not too bad for weekend play around Atlanta.
I would say it is one of the best public courses in the area and compares well with Bridgemill and Barnsley Gardens.
It's worth a try if you can get a good rate.

On 06/11/09, I had a tee time of 7am. Let me start by saying the course is in excellent shape and the service was over and beyond what I expected.
My buddy calls me around 0630 and tells me that he has to bring the kids ( 2).
I'm thinking, why didn't he tell me this the night before. Well anyway, he calls the course and told them his situation.
The pro shop told him to bring them along at no extra cost. Well I didn't want to hear any excuses on why he would play bad.
My wife volunteered to watch his kids until 930, we were able to play 9 holes before she arrived with the kids.
Woodmont allowed us to get an extra cart and continue play. What a blast for the kids and our golf experience.
Thanks Woodmont  for allowing play at such courses.

Easily one of my favorite courses to play in the Cobb, Paulding, Cherokee County area.
It has a variety of holes with 5 par 3s, and 5 par 5s.
No cookie cutter golf course here.
Every time I go there the course is in great shape.

Played Woodmont Friday, June 6.
The area got 1-1.5 inches of rain the previous night but the course was completely dry when we teed off Friday afternoon.
No soupy spots anywhere.
Woodmont is a fairly long drive from the Atlanta perimeter, but once you get on the course and see the layout and overall condition you will forget all about the drive.
Big hitters will love this course. If you are not accurate off the tees you had better be proficient with a rescue club or you will suffer.
This course has everything, uphill par 5s, tight par 3s, beautiful, long fairways, 2-tiered, sloping greens, and plenty of water hazards and strategically placed bunkers.
This course will surely test your mettle.
The cart girls work so many hours on weekends that they are scarce on weekdays,
so make sure you put something to drink in your bag to keep you hydrated in the heat just in case you can't find one.
I will absolutely play Woodmont again. It is well worth the $40-$50 range.

I've played this course several times this spring and love the general layout and course conditions at Woodmont.
If you're a high handicapper or "slicer" you'll have a long afternoon here (I speak from experience :)
Still, the course conditions make it enjoyable even if you're going through sleeves of balls.
The greens are fast and in good condition compared to most other courses I play.
I plan on playing Woodmont again in the near future after I get my occasional slice back under control!

Played at Woodmont this weekend and was impressed again.
It was my second time playing there and just love the course layout.
The greens were in great shape and were very receptive. Tees and fairways were grown in and had plenty of grass underneath the ball.
Watch out for the rough on some of the holes; it can really eat you up.
If you keep the ball in play, it can make for a great day of golf.
Avoid right, it is not an option on most holes.
Woodmont is a great course and I will be back again this year.
