Played Indian Creek today at 10 AM (Monday) and had the course
almost to myself. Check-in was fast, 90* rule in effect, and nobody on the 1st
tee. A great start to my day !!
The practise range and green was really busy though.
The course was playing firm and fast.....with well-struck drives getting 30+
yards of extra roll. Definitely makes one feel much better about their
distances!
Tee boxes were 50/50 (about half of them were grassed in, and the other
half fairly thin). Fairways are well on their way to greening up, with only
minimal bare patches.
The greens here are well maintained and green, with no evidence of aerification
at all. Putts were rolling true, albeit, very slow.
It could be that this early on Monday, the mowers hadn't had the chance to
get out yet?
Bunkerage around the course leaves a little to be desired. Some were raked
smooth, but many others were in deplorable shape.
Low areas in several bunkers were hard packed sand....almost impossible to
control your sand shots. Other times, they were fluffed up quite nicely, and
getting out accurately was a breeze.
Indian Creek has some great internet specials, and ultimately, this makes the
round a good value.
There were quite a few maintenance personnel working around the course, so I've
no doubt that I caught them a little early after the weekend, for the
maintenence to be done completely and properly.
I'm looking forward to my next visit out there.

We played as a twosome on a wet Saturday, September 19th.
In spite of several consecutive rainy days, the course was still quite playable,
though there were certainly plenty of areas of casual water.
However, all day we only had one ball plug in a fairway, on hole #17, and only
one ball plug in a green.
We weren't in any bunkers, but rating them would be pointless considering the
conditions.
The general condition of the course is very good, with plush tee boxes and
fairways.
The rough is Bermuda grass, not too deep that you couldn't get out of it easily.
The greens are in top notch condition with fewer ball pitch marks than I had
expected to see. They're beautifully maintained.
This is a very challenging layout with all the variety you'd want. Some fairways
are very generous while others require your best effort from the tee.
There are straight holes, gentle sweepers, and a couple sharper doglegs.
A couple of the par 3's stretch to around 220 yards from the tips, but overall
this is a very playable tract if you choose the tee boxes according to your
ability.
Even though it was "cart path only" due to the wetness, we were virtually alone
on the course and finished in right around 4 hours.
The staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful than they were.
This is a course definitely worth the hour drive for us.
